Don't Call Me Angel by Alicia Wright Brewster ~Excerpt

Today I have an exclusive excerpt from the newly released urban fantasy Don't Call Me Angel. This is the first book in the Forsaken series and reviews sound promising. Enjoy!

Don't Call Me Angel
by Alicia Wright Brewster
Series: Forsaken #1
Publisher: Dargonfly Presss
Publication date: June 15. 2012
Genre: Adult Urban Fantasy
Purchase: Barnes and Noble/Amazon

After crawling her way out of Hell, Six is ready to cast aside her angel wings and all the responsibilities that come with them. But Earth is not as peaceful as she imagined it. Demons, dark angels, and other hell-beasties escaped before her, and they're not as content as she is to live a quiet life on Earth.
A fellow angel who escaped Hell with her commits a series of soul-murders, destroying human souls so they can't go to the afterlife. Although Six has conflicting feelings about humans, she goes after the other angel to keep their escape a secret from the one she fears most.
Exclusive excerpt :

“So . . .” I said. “Why did you call?”
“Do I need a reason?” He wrapped an arm around my shoulders.
“Of course not.”
A comfortable silence stretched between us for a span of minutes. While I waited for him to speak, I stared out at the city around me. Twinkling lights lay scattered across the ground and climbed up the dark silhouettes of buildings, highlighted against the deep blue background of the darkening sky. Soon, I found myself kicking gleefully at the empty air beneath me, in time with Alden.
He finally spoke again. “How do you like Earth?”
A loud guffaw slipped from my lips. I had to catch myself from falling off the building as I laughed. Alden’s deeper-pitched laughter joined mine.
“Oh, you know,” I said, still chuckling. “All this fresh air and temperate weather. No blood-curdling screams to rock me to sleep at night.” I turned to him and shrugged. “It’s kind of dull, don’t you think?”
His face went serious. “It’s almost perfect.”
“Yeah.” I nodded. “Well, except for the humans anyway.”

So what do you think?
I cannot wait to read this!

I'm not really into angel stories, but this sure does seem interesting although I'm not a huge fan of the cover.
Thanks for sharing, Kim. :)

Ohh. ;o Sounds quite interesting! As Giselle, I'm kind of getting tired of the angel books these days sadly, but there's still many I'm curious about!

This one looks like it will be a great read! I love the Angels in Urban Fantasy novels, probably because I space them out and don't read to many with similar themes one after another. Thanks for making me add another book to my already massive tbr pile!
