Waiting On Wednesday #20

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly meme
hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine
where we spotlight books we are eagerly anticipating.

Ten
by Gretchen McNeil
Publisher: Balzer + Bray/HarperCollins
Publication date: September 18, 2012
Genre: YA Horror
Purchase: Barnes and Noble/Amazon/Book Depository

And their doom comes swiftly.
It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.
But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.
Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

I love the sound of this one and its been on my radar for sometime. I plan to bring you a review of this in October during my month long "Things that Go Bump in the Night." I am hosting a read-a-thon October 5 - October 8th and hope you will join me. Learn more about Fraterfest here

The Emperor's Conspiracy
by Michelle Diener
Publisher: Gallery Books (Simon & Schuster Imprint)
Publication date: November 27, 2012
Genre: Historical Fiction/Romance/Suspense
Purchase:Barnes and Noble/Amazon/Book Depository

Set in early nineteenth-century England, this vivid and romantic historical novel goes from the most elegant ballrooms of London to the city’s most tawdry slums, as a spirited young woman helps unravel a plot by Napoleon to bleed England of all its gold.
Through good fortune, Charlotte Raven escaped the poverty of the London slums and is now an educated, wealthy Society lady. But she lives between two worlds, unable to completely turn her back on her old life—specifically Luke, her childhood protector and now a ruthless London crime lord.
When Lord Edward Durnham is asked to investigate the alarming movement of gold out of England, his search leads him to London, and his recent acquaintance with Charlotte affords him access to a dark world he barely knew existed. As they delve deeper into the underbelly of London, danger lurks at every turn, and Charlotte must navigate between her two worlds to save England.
And soon she faces a defining choice: to continue in the familiar limbo she’s lived in for years, or to take a painful and risky leap toward a happiness she never thought possible.
This book has a few elements that I love; suspense, mystery, historical setting and romance. The cover whore living within me loves the cover of this book and the synopsis sold me.

Haven't read any of the author's previous work so I am going into Ten, cold. I loved Agatha so like you it's a must read. I am excited to read the Emperor's Conspiracy and early reviews sound promising :)

Oh my goodness, Emperor's Conspiracy is SO PRETTY. Want to add to GR right now, but I know historical fiction tends to be pretty hit or miss, so I think I'll wait and see how reviews go. That dress is freaking gorgeous though.

I am skeptical of Ten, since I didn't like her first book. I still HAVE to read it though, because it's based on Agatha Christie. :/

My WoW.

I have seen Ten before and to me it looks similar to Harper's Island. The Emperor's Conspiracy looks interesting and could be good. Historical books are iffy for me - they have to have the right balance of history and romance/fiction. Thanks for the great picks! Check out my WoW
