Can love survive when life gets Reckless? When the band hits it big, Kiera and Kellan must ask themselves: Can their love for each other survive the constant pressures of superstardom? The friendships they've formed, the new family they've found, and the history they've forged will all play a part in helping them navigate the turbulent waters of the band's exploding popularity. A greedy executive hell-bent on success, a declining pop star looking for an edge, and a media circus that twists lies into truths are just some of the obstacles the lovers will have to overcome if they are going to remain together. Fame comes with a price-but will it cost Kiera and Kellan everything?
As you all know I have been gobbling up New Adult books like crack and recently scooped up Thoughtless and Effortless. (look for my thoughts in an upcoming Coffee Pot Review). I have heard nothing but wonderful things about the series from some of my favorite peeps!

The Fairest of Them All
by Carolyn Turgeon
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Publication date:  August 6, 2013
Genre: YA Fantasy
Purchase: Barnes and Noble/Amazon/Book Depository

What if Rapunzel was Snow White’s evil stepmother? From the author of Godmother and Mermaid, The Fairest of Them All explores what happens when fairy tale heroines grow up and don’t live happily ever after. Living in an enchanted forest, Rapunzel spends her days tending a mystical garden with her adoptive mother, Mathena. A witch, Mathena was banished from court because of her magic powers, though the women from the kingdom still seek her advice and herbal remedies. She waits, biding her time to exact revenge against those who betrayed her. One day Rapunzel’s beautiful voice and long golden locks captivate a young prince hunting in the forest nearby. Overcome, he climbs her hair up to her chamber and they fall into each other’s arms. But their afternoon of passion is fleeting, and the prince must return to his kingdom, as he is betrothed to another. Now king, he marries his intended to bring peace to his kingdom. They have a stunning daughter named Snow White. Yet the king is haunted by his memories of Rapunzel, and after the mysterious death of his wife, realizes he is free to marry the woman he never stopped longing for. In hopes of also replacing the mother of his beloved daughter, the king makes Rapunzel his queen.
I love fairy-tale retellings and between the gorgeous cover and Rapunzel being Snow White's evil stepmother I cannot wait to read this one!

When She Was Gone
by Gwendolen Gross
Publisher: Gallery Books
Publication date: March 13, 2013
Genre: Adult Fiction/Suspense
Purchase: Barnes and Noble/Amazon/Book Depository

Tom Perotta’s Little Children meets Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones in this suspenseful and beautifully wrought story of a seventeen-year-old girl who vanishes on the eve of her departure for college, as told through the alternating perspectives of her neighbors. Seventeen-year-old Linsey Hart disappears the day before she’s due to leave for college. As her neighbors piece together what they saw and what they think they know about the missing girl, their long-held secrets, prejudices, and entanglements become rudely evident. There’s Linsey’s mother, Abigail, whose door-to-door searching makes her social outcast status painfully obvious; stay-at-home mom Reeva, whose primary concern is covering up the affair she’s been having with the Starbucks barista; Mr. Leonard, a reclusive retired piano teacher—and the last person to see Linsey alive; George, an eleven year-old gifted loner who is determined to find out what happened to Linsey; and Timmy, Linsey’s ex-boyfriend, who is left grieving as he embarks on his own college career. A keenly observed portrait of a small town under duress, When She Was Gone is a searing portrayal of the bonds that hold a community together—and the secrets and lies that threaten to rip it apart.
I love mysteries and small towns, so this appeals to me. Since I loved Little Children and The Lovely Bones I imagine I will enjoy this tale. I like that it is told from alternating perspectives of the neighbors!

White Lines
by Jennifer Banash
Publisher: Putnum
Publication date: April 4, 2013
Genre: YA Contemporary
Purchase: Barnes and Noble/Amazon/Book Depository

A gritty, atmospheric coming of age tale set in 1980s New York City Seventeen-year-old Cat is living every teenager's dream—she has her own apartment on the Lower East Side and at night she's club kid royalty, guarding the velvet rope at some of the hottest clubs in the city. The night with its crazy, frenetic, high-inducing energy—the pulsing beat of the music, the radiant, joyful people and those seductive white lines that can ease all pain—is when Cat truly lives. But her daytime, when real life occurs, is more nightmare than dream. Having spent years suffering her mother's emotional and physical abuse, and abandoned by her father, Cat is terrified and alone—unable to connect to anyone or anything. But when someone comes along who makes her want to truly live, she'll need to summon the courage to confront her demons and take control of a life already spinning dangerously out of control.
Both poignant and raw, White Lines is a gripping tale and the reader won't want to look away.
I grew up in the eighties, love New York and gritty tales. I am looking forward to this one!
